OS 4 Up™ infusion systems

Maintain IOP with
Dynamic Infusion

During surgery, intraocular pressure can change continuously. Dynamic infusion extends traditional Passive and Active infusion through adaptive IOP management.

    Dynamic infusion
    Close to physiological level

Dynamic infusion compensates for changes in intraocular pressure. This allows IOP settings close to the physiological level while supporting stable intraocular conditions, even at high flow and vacuum settings.

  • Diagram of active infusion in OS 4 Up

    Active infusion
    Constant pressure control

Active infusion generates a constant infusion pressure via the air supply to the BSS bottle and allows settings of up to 120 mmHg. It can be used with standard 500 ml BSS bottles made of glass or plastic*.

  • Diagram of passive infusion in OS 4 Up

    Passive infusion
    Gravity-controlled pressure

The passive infusion follows the traditional principle where pressure is determined by bottle height and regulated by gravity. It is mechanically driven, can be controlled in cm or mmHg, and is an economical solution as part of most phaco and vitrectomy packs*.

Dynamic infusion

Reduce IOP settings.
Stay stable.

The OS 4 Up monitors pressure changes (red line) and applies dynamic infusion pressure (yellow line) to achieve stable intraocular conditions (white line).

Emulsification with and without Dynamic infusion

The video shows a side-by-side comparison of emulsification with and without Dynamic infusion in a porcine eye wetlab. In the sequence shown, Dynamic infusion appears to provide a more stable intraocular environment during emulsification.

Dynamic infusion extends the versatility of the OS 4 Up across both anterior and posterior segment surgery. Operating alongside the unique SPEEP or peristaltic pump, it supports a fluidics setup aligned with diverse surgical needs.

Why Dynamic infusion
is the future

«It changes a lot regarding pressure and control over the anterior chamber. There is a little bit of a learning curve with it. Already today, my phaco times are much lower than in the normal surgeries and I'm really convinced that’s the future of technology». (D)

  • Master fluidics with a three pump system

The OS 4 Up combines three pump systems on a single platform: Peristaltic, Venturi and SPEEP. This gives surgeons the flexibility to choose the fluidics principle that best matches their preferred technique and intraoperative handling.
